For the Base :
You can take Auto or Omni from Karjat Railway Station to reach base Village Sondewadi. Distance from railway station to Sondewadi is around 10km. Normal cost of Omni is Rs. 500 and can accommodate 7 at a time.
Walking is other option to cut the cost.
There is one option to use Bus and get down around Vavarle village and start trek which connect Sondewadi Route after long time. This route will take around 3 hours to reach top of fort.
From the Base:
Once you reach Sondewadi, trail is well marked and you can keep your direction straight towards fort.
Route is simple, still at some of the steps we should keep attention.
There is ladder added to make your way simple for the top.
Matheran, Prabalgad, Kalavantin & Irshalgad can be seen from the top.
Water tank and Temple on top available to take your attention.
Notes:
One can ascend Sondai fort and came back to starting point of Rambaug point for Matheran and come out from Dasturi naka to reach Neral for local train. Distance between the base should be covered by private transport. For first timers this will become lengthy and should not be tested as inbetween exit not available.
